What is therapy like?

Individual therapy is a collaborative, supportive process tailored to your unique needs and goals. Using evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, and IFS, I help you build skills, explore your thoughts and feelings, and work through challenges in a safe, confidential virtual space. Our 1-on-1 sessions will be approximately 53 minutes long.

What is couples counseling like?

Couples counseling at Bloom Within Counseling PLLC uses the evidence-based Gottman Method, known for its practical and structured approach. Sessions are 90 minutes long and include guided discussions, skill-building exercises, and homework between sessions to help you and your partner strengthen your relationship and communication.

What about fees & insurance for couples counseling?

I do not accept insurance for couples counseling. Couples counseling is only private pay for a fee of $170 per 90 minute sessions for a number of factors:

  1. Billing insurance requires that there is an identified client who qualifies for a mental health diagnosis. In the case of couples therapy, billing insurance would necessitate one partner meeting criteria for a diagnosis and the focus of therapy would be that partner's diagnosis and affiliated needs with the second partner participating to help support the diagnosed partner's coping and recovery.

  2. In addition, there are a number of legal protections that are offered to the individual with the diagnosis which are not equally extended to the other participating partner.

  3. Gottman Method Couples Therapy is focused on needs such as increasing closeness and friendship behaviors, addressing conflict productively and building a life of shared meaning together. There is no diagnosing of either partner.

What is the cancellation policy?

Clients must provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the session, or no-shows, will incur a $75 late cancellation/no-show fee. Each client is allowed one courtesy waiver to avoid this fee.

Do you offer therapy outside of Tennessee?

At this time, I am only licensed to provide therapy to individuals and couples located within the state of Tennessee. I offer online counseling for residents across the state, including Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, and other Tennessee communities.

If you're located outside of Tennessee, I recommend finding a licensed therapist in your state for care that meets legal and ethical guidelines.
