Couples Counseling for Connection, Communication & Healing

Rebuild trust. Strengthen your bond. Navigate life’s challenges—together.
Whether you’re dating, married, co-parenting, or rebuilding after a rupture, every relationship faces struggles. As a licensed therapist (LCSW) who utilizes the Gottman Method, I offer evidence-based couples counseling to help you grow together, not apart.

Why Couples Counseling?

Couples come to therapy for many reasons, including:

  • Communication struggles

  • Conflict or frequent arguments

  • Trust issues or infidelity

  • Intimacy concerns

  • Life transitions like parenting, infertility, or postpartum stress

  • Feeling emotionally disconnected

  • Deciding whether to stay together

What Couples Counseling Looks Like

My practice follows the Gottman Method, a research-based approach to improving relationship satisfaction, communication, and emotional connection. I have received training in Gottman Levels 1 and 2.

  • Virtual sessions together to explore your relationship history, challenges, and goals

  • Online relationship questionnaires to identify strengths and areas of concern

  • One individual session with each partner to understand your personal perspectives and history

  • A final assessment session to discuss clinical impressions and collaboratively set goals for therapy

Sessions are 90-minute conjoint therapy sessions with both partners present. Occasionally, individual sessions may be recommended. You may also receive guided exercises to practice between sessions to strengthen your connection.

What We Work On in Couples Therapy

  • Rebuilding trust and repairing after betrayal

  • Navigating the mental load of parenting or perinatal challenges

  • Increasing emotional intimacy and physical closeness

  • Managing stress, anxiety, and external pressures as a team

  • Developing shared meaning and future goals

Fees & Insurance for Couples Counseling

Couples counseling is offered as a private pay service and is not billed to insurance through this practice. Insurance may be used for individual therapy sessions or, when clinically appropriate, supportive collateral joint sessions. The private pay rate for couples counseling is $170 per 90-minute session and will be charged to the card on file following each session.

  • Sessions are typically 90 minutes

  • One-time or as needed individual sessions (during assessment) are 60 minutes each at $150.

  • All sessions are virtual

Can We Use Insurance for Couples Counseling?

No, my practice does not accept insurance for couples sessions. Couples counseling is only private pay for several important reasons:

  • Insurance requires a diagnosed client. Insurance requires that at least one partner has a diagnosed mental health condition in order for sessions to be billed. In this context, therapy would focus primarily on the diagnosed partner’s condition, and the second partner is considered a support participant rather than a client in their own right, whereas in couples counseling, both of you are treated as the client as your relationship is the client.

  • Legal protections are not equal. Legal protections differ between partners. The individual with a diagnosis is granted certain confidentiality and legal rights that do not automatically extend to the other partner.

  • Gottman Method is not diagnosis-based. My approach focuses on strengthening emotional connection, improving communication, and developing shared meaning in your relationship. These goals are not typically covered by insurance. Couples counseling sessions are 90 minutes long and are offered as a private pay service.

Because of these ethical and clinical considerations, all couples counseling is billed privately at my practice.
